BOTOX® Cosmetic for Men
As we age, repeated facial movements tend to etch wrinkles into certain areas of our faces, making us appear tired or older than we really are. The most common dynamic wrinkles are horizontal creases beside the eyes, also known as crow’s feet, or vertical lines between the brows, known as frown lines. BOTOX® is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments for men of nearly all ages, and is FDA-approved for temporary treatment of dynamic wrinkles.*
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Harrington is highly experienced in facial rejuvenation, including treating the specific appearance concerns of men. During your one-on-one consultation, she’ll work with you to understand your goals for facial enhancement and design the best approach for your needs.
Harrington + Associates Plastic Surgery has helped men and women from the Twin Cities metro area and across Minnesota with injectables. Contact us online or call our Plymouth office today at 651-290-7600 for more information about BOTOX® Cosmetic, including pricing.
Who Is a Good Candidate for BOTOX®?
Men of a wide range of ages can be good candidates for BOTOX® treatments. Some of the most common reasons men consider starting “brotox” include:*
- Crow’s feet, or lines on the outside of the eyes, contribute to a tired or old appearance
- Frown lines, or wrinkles between the brows, create a constantly worried expression
- You wish to prevent dynamic wrinkles from forming before they start
Your BOTOX® Treatment
BOTOX® Cosmetic is made up of botulinum toxin, a protein that functions as a muscle relaxant. When injected into specific muscles, the product temporarily prevents the muscles from contracting.* BOTOX® can temporarily relax the facial muscles that create dynamic wrinkles*. Some men may be better candidates for Dysport®, a similar product that also works to reduce dynamic wrinkles.* Dr. Harrington can guide you toward the best option for your specific needs.
All BOTOX® injections are performed by our certified physician assistant or certified plastic surgery nurse. The treatment itself usually only takes 20 to 30 minutes.* Your injector may apply a topical numbing cream or ice pack to the treatment area before administering your BOTOX®. She will then carefully inject the product into the specific muscles that cause the wrinkles you are hoping to reduce or prevent. For most men, this means either crow’s feet, frown lines or both.
Depending on your goals for cosmetic enhancement, Dr. Harrington may recommend additional treatments to complement your BOTOX® results. Many men enjoy a combination of “brotox” treatments and injectable fillers.
One of the primary benefits of getting “brotox” is that the procedure requires virtually no downtime, allowing busy men to return to their normal schedules as soon as their appointment is finished.* You may experience some mild bruising or swelling around the injection sites.*
You should refrain from exercise and other strenuous activities for 24 hours following your appointment. You will also need to avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area during this time to ensure that the product remains in its intended location. Although everyone’s experience is different, most men’s BOTOX® results develop gradually over the coming days, with full results visible by 2 weeks after treatment.* BOTOX® results typically last for 3 to 4 months, and many men schedule routine treatments into their regular maintenance regimen.*
BOTOX® complications are rare, but it’s still important to discuss any potential risks with your injector prior to your treatment. If you notice any sudden swelling, pain or other adverse effects, notify our office immediately.
BOTOX® Cosmetic can treat dynamic wrinkles that contribute to a prematurely aged appearance.* If you have questions or would like more information, please contact us online or call our Plymouth office at 651-290-7600 to request your BOTOX® consultation and learn more about how to enhance your natural appearance.
