Cellulite Treatment

Contrary to popular belief, cellulite cannot be reduced by losing weight. This common “cottage cheese” look also isn’t brought on by weight gain. In fact, these dimples on the thighs and buttocks, particularly in women, are caused by restrictive tissue bands that group fat cells together.

We are specialists in treating cellulite and offer modern treatment options to find the best fit for your appearance goals:

  • Avéli® provides precise targeting of the restrictive bands that cause cellulite, letting us cut individual bands for increased accuracy.
  • Profound® RF treatments use radiofrequency energy to create microscopic injuries deep in the skin, stimulating cell and tissue regeneration for smoother thighs.
One of the reasons Dr. Jennifer Harrington is known as one of the best female plastic surgeons is because she takes pride in offering treatments she has tried herself, and loves the results. During your consultation, she’ll explain exactly how cellulite is formed and how each cellulite treatment we offer works, helping you feel comfortable and confident about your decision.

Harrington + Associates Plastic Surgery has helped women from the Twin Cities and beyond with non-surgical cellulite treatments. Contact us online or call our Plymouth office today at 651-290-7600 for more information about cellulite reduction, including pricing.

All about Avéli Cellulite Reduction

Who Is a Good Candidate for Cellulite Reduction?

Most people who are unhappy with the appearance of cellulite on their bodies can be excellent candidates for at least one of the cellulite treatments we offer. Some of the most common reasons to consider cellulite reduction include:

  • The appearance of dimpled skin on the thighs or buttocks creates embarrassment
  • You avoid wearing certain clothes or bathing suits due to a “cottage cheese” look
  • The appearance of cellulite makes you look older or less fit than you really are

Your Treatment

What your treatment looks like depends on which cellulite reduction technique is best for you and which areas of the body you are treating.

Avéli

Avéli is a minimally invasive, FDA-cleared treatment for cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. It takes about an hour to perform on average. During the procedure, the Avéli device is moved beneath the skin to cut the connective tissue bands that cause cellulite dimples by pulling down on the skin’s surface. A lighted tip on the device allows us to precisely target individual bands and verify in real-time that targeted dimples have been removed.

We are excited to offer our Avéli patients BTL CELLUTONE as part of their cellulite treatment. CELLUTONE uses the power of therapeutic vibrations to increase lymphatic drainage, waste elimination and blood flow. It addresses the main factors causing cellulite formation and can lead to a considerable improvement in post-treatment skin appearance.

Profound

Before your Profound treatment, we will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area, followed by an injection of numbing medicine. Then, the Profound device will be passed over your thighs. The device contains five pairs of microneedles with electrodes delivering radiofrequency energy directly into your skin and tissue.

We may recommend additional treatments to make the most of your cellulite reduction results. Many people choose to combine cellulite treatments with body contouring procedures such as liposuction or its non-surgical alternative, CoolSculpting®. Women getting a mommy makeover also commonly include cellulite treatments in their cosmetic plan.

Cellulite Treatment Recovery & Results

While all of the cellulite reduction methods we offer do not require surgery, they each have a different mix of what to expect after treatment.

Avéli

Patients should expect to feel sore, swollen, and bruised in the treatment area after the treatment session is completed. Bruising is often more moderate than some of our other cellulite treatment options. You should feel fine to return to your normal activities after about 2 days.

Bruising and swelling may last up to a month, which is when you can expect to see your final results. In most cases, only a single treatment is needed to see the desired cellulite reduction result.

Profound

You can return to your normal routine immediately following a Profound cellulite treatment. Expect to have some redness and mild soreness on the treated area, but these side effects should fade within the first day. Also during the first day or two, it’s important to avoid strenuous activities. You may see temporary bruising or swelling, which should fade within 1 to 5 days of your treatment.

Your results should gradually develop over the following several weeks and months. You should notice your skin developing a smoother, firmer texture. Your cellulite should slowly start to diminish after treatment.
