Genius administers radiofrequency (RF) energy to the deeper layers of the skin through a handpiece that contains microneedles. When exposed to this energy, the skin tissue responds by initiating your body’s natural healing response. This includes production of new collagen and elastin, essential components for young, healthy looking skin. Collagen and elastin are also essential for minimizing skin laxity, and the tightening effect of a Genius treatment can help it achieve a “nonsurgical facelift.”

To begin your Genius RF treatment, we will administer a topical anesthetic to increase comfort. Once that has taken effect, your provider glides the Genius handpiece over the treatment area, releasing controlled energy to a precise depth in the dermis. Treatment time is generally 30 minutes to 1 hour.

We often combine Genius treatments with other aesthetic procedures to help our patients achieve a more comprehensive refresh. Some of the top options in combination with Genius include BOTOX® and dermal fillers to smooth wrinkles and replace lost facial volume. This is also an excellent treatment to add to surgical facial procedures, since these procedures cannot address skin texture and tone concerns.

Genius is a minimally invasive aesthetic treatment, but you should still plan for a bit of downtime as your skin recovers. Redness and swelling are common for the first 3 to 7 days after treatment, and some patients also may experience bruising. Skin texture may briefly be more uneven and rough as the skin sheds older layers of tissue. You should have no issues going out in public, perhpas with some makeup applies, about a week after treatment.

In terms of results, they are revealed gradually. Usually at the 3 month mark is when the benefits of each treatment are maximized. Most people will see the greatest benefit by having a series of 3 treatments spaced about 6 weeks apart.
