Who Is a Good Candidate for HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Men and women of almost any age and skin type can be excellent candidates for Sciton’s HALO hybrid fractional laser treatment. Some of the most common skin concerns treated by HALO include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Poor skin texture
  • Scarring (including acne scars)
  • Enlarged pores
  • Pigmented lesions

HALO can be used on areas other than the face as well. These include the neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs.

Your HALO Laser Resurfacing Treatment

Dr. Harrington or our certified physician assistant or nurses will use the innovative HALO handpiece to administer treatment. As the device is rolled over the targeted area, HALO uses motion-tracking technology to ensure even and effective treatment. Most people feel a warming sensation during treatment. However, topical anesthetic and HALO’s integrated cooling technology can minimize discomfort.

HALO’s use of dual wavelengths is what sets it apart from other laser treatments. While the ablative laser creates microscopic pathways in targeted areas, the nonablative laser creates tiny thermal injuries. These work together to increase your body’s natural healing processes, stimulate collagen and elastin production and rev up cell turnover.

The end result is smoother, brighter and more resilient skin. Sciton’s HALO is so versatile that it can be paired with both nonsurgical and surgical procedures under anesthesia to help maximize your desired results.

HALO Laser Resurfacing Downtime

Swelling and redness are common side effects following your laser skin resurfacing treatment. Your skin will most likely feel warm for the first 24 hours after your session. Cold compresses can be used to reduce the sensation as well as swelling.

You can expect your skin to flake and peel around 3 to 4 days after your treatment. However, peeling should be complete within about 1 to 2 weeks, and you can use makeup to help mask it in the meantime. Most patients see the greatest improvements in skin tone and texture by weeks 2 or 3.

Although your individual results may vary, most people experience continued improvements to the texture and pigment correction of their skin over the following weeks and even months. Unlike traditional lasers, most people see the best results in as little as 1 to 2 HALO laser resurfacing treatments.

Results from your HALO laser skin resurfacing treatment should be long-lasting. To help extend the longevity of your results, it’s important to follow Dr. Harrington’s post-treatment instructions, avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen during and after the healing process. We also recommend using ALASTIN skincare products to help aid in the healing and restoration of the skin. Some people may wish to get the occasional touch-up treatment to maximize their results.
