Who Is a Good Candidate for Our Appetite Control Diet?
Almost anyone who struggles with weight and appetite control may benefit from medically-supervised weight loss.* Some of the most common reasons to consider our appetite control program include:
- You have trouble keeping weight off once you lose it
- Curbing your appetite is a challenge that often results in unhealthy binges
- You can’t seem to lose weight despite your best efforts
- You are in good overall health and are not pregnant
Your Appetite Control Diet
The appetite control diet aims to help patients feel consistently full throughout the day by eating low-fat foods that are high in protein or fiber, spaced throughout the day. Many men and women who take part in our appetite control program report that they don’t even feel like they’re on a diet because there are few food limitations and the foods they eat leave them full for hours.*
During your initial visit with Dr. Harrington, she will review your lifestyle and eating habits with a detailed survey. She’ll then use this information to determine your unique calorie needs and develop a customized nutrition plan that is specifically tailored to your lifestyle and body.
Our program also focuses on patient education. Dr. Harrington and her staff will educate you about which foods offer the most nutritional value and can keep you feeling satisfied the longest so that you can make your own healthy decisions. We will also provide you with instructions on number of servings, as well as outlines for meals and snacks. The appetite control diet plan also provides examples of healthy meals without too many food restrictions to help you stick to your nutrition plan without feeling as if you’re depriving yourself of the things you love most.
Depending on your goals and weight loss results, Dr. Harrington may recommend cosmetic treatments to help you get the most out of your appetite control diet. Kybella™ injections can treat a double chin, while CoolSculpting® can help fine-tune your body shape after weight loss.*
The Science behind Appetite Control
Our program consists of eating 3 nutritious meals per day, supplemented with snacks when hungry. Meals consist of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and protein. All foods have a low glycemic index (GI). GI indicates how quickly a food turns into sugar once inside the body. Foods with a high GI, such as pasta, white bread, soda and candy, cause rapid spikes in blood sugar levels. Foods with a low GI, on the other hand, affect blood sugar levels less, take longer to digest and provide longer-lasting energy, allowing you to feel full for longer. Examples of foods with a low GI include vegetables, fruits, complex carbohydrates, lean meat, egg whites and fish.
