How does Dysport work?

Dysport is type A botulinum toxin—a highly refined protein. Dysport relaxes the underlying muscle to reduce and temporarily eliminate it’s movement and contractions. This results in a smooth surface and youthful appearance. The onset and affects Dysport are gradual over the next few days following the injection and results last an average of 3-4 months. The effects of Dysport wear off gradually as well.

What is the difference between Dysport and Botox?

Dysport often takes effect more quickly than Botox and some patients who have had Botox in the past prefer results of Dysport. Cost of treatment is comparable and both products are well received by our patients. We offer both Botox and Dysport because we’re confident in them both and want to be sure to have available whichever our patients may desire.

How much does Dysport cost?

At your consult, the Physician Assistant, with your input, will develop a treatment plan. Based on your plan, an estimate will be provided. Our Dysport price is $12/unit. On average, a person needs any where from 10-75 units depending on how many areas of the face are being treated.

Every Dysport treatment is individually priced; it is based on the number of units injected. During your appointment, we begin by discussing the desired area(s) for treatment and evaluate the underlying muscle strength.

Below is an average dosage per area:

Forehead: 25-40 units
Frown lines: 50-80 units
Crow’s feet”: 15-30 units/side
Dimpled Chin: 8-20 units

Are there specials or deals available for Dysport?

All injections are done by our certified physician assistants. Click to read more about our injectors, Katie McClellan and Kristina Thissen.

When will I see results of Dysport?

Results may begin to be noticeable just a few days after injection, and may take up to two weeks for full effect.

How long does Dysport last?

On average, full movement of the muscle returns 3- 4 months after injection. Most patients enjoy the results of treatment and schedule an average of 3 treatments per year. Dysport is part of Galderma’s reward program, Aspire, which can help you to earn rewards (savings) toward each treatment. Be sure to ask more about the program during your visit.

Are there any restrictions immediately following treatment?

Patients should refrain from exercise and other rigorous physical activity for 24 hours after treatment to avoid movement of the product.

Dysport at Harrington Plastic Surgery

Dysport is injected directly into the wrinkle-causing muscles via a syringe. Treatment time is usually less than 30 minutes, after which patients are free to return to their daily activities with no downtime. The rejuvenating results begin to appear shortly after treatment and continue to improve over the next 72 hours.

Because Dysport contains less protein than Botox, the results tend to last longer, usually six to 12 months. Touch-up injections may be needed to maintain the results.

Who performs the injections?

All injections are done by our certified physician assistants. They are master injectors with advanced training and many years of experience. Click to read more about our expert injectors, Katie McClellan and Kristina Thissen.
